Lake Garda-the perfect setting for Father's Day! Sun, boats, water and good food! We started out this morning a bit later-everyone was able to get a solid night's sleep. We had hoped to rent a boat and get out on the water, but this town is brimming with people and all of the boats were already rented out. We settled for a ferry ride to the peninsula of Sermione where we were greeted by an impressive castle built in the 1400's. Sirmione is a beautiful little town with cobblestone streets, lots of flowers, trees and park areas. Stunning views of the lake and the Italian equivalent of beaches-Rocky shore that passes for a beach but with beautiful green-blue water that is relatively shallow near the shore. We found a teeny patch of rock wedged in amongst the other beach goers and laid out our towels. After a little bit of sunbathing and swimming Dan commissioned a paddle boat for us to venture out into the deeper water. This was a great decision. We had so much fun jumping into the water, sliding down the slide and sunbathing on the boat. Ben especially loved this time and didn't want it to end! It was a great way to celebrate Father's Day. We found a nice restaurant for dinner and had a good meal. The ferry ride back was fun. We swam at our hotel pool when we arrived back-this hotel is very strict so we laughed about all the rules and screamed under water as loud as we could so we wouldn't get yelled at by the hotel man. You are not allowed to splash in the pool! Noah got yelled at for splashing while he was swimming. Early to bed because tomorrow we train to Milan.
